Monastery and Independence of Poland (of other European countries) in the 19th and 20th centuries

In 100th anniversary of recovery by Poland the independence (1918), we welcome to participate in this international scientific conference.

We are particularly interested in showing this problem in a comparative context. The whole of the nineteenth century witnessed the achievement of independence by the states and the emergence of new united states. Particularly many states (including Poland) regained or gained independence as a result of the First World War. And if so, to what extent did the monasteries and monks participate in these events?

We are therefore particularly interested in the participation of researchers from Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Theology, the Papal University of John Paul II in Cracow and the Wrocław Historical Lovers Association, a branch of the Polish Historical Association, in cooperation with the Historical Institute of the University of Wrocław, the Institute of History of the University of Opole. The conference is the eleventh of the series "Monastery in ...".

Conference fee (covers the costs of stay at the conference, i.e. accommodation and meals) - 100 euros.
