Articles

An article intended for the RHE should represent original research on a precise subject in the domain of Church history and Christianity. It should be based on primary sources. They should be cited regularly in their original text.

The research should be preceded by an introduction presenting the general area the article fits into and supplying some recent bibliographical references allowing us to situate the subject in the general history of the Church. The introduction can also helpfully include an outline of the methodology used, an evaluation of the interest of the subject treated and an announcement of the plan followed. The article's conclusion offers a synthesis of its contribution.

It can be written in English, French, German, Spanish or Italian. Please supply a résumé of around 10 lines in the language of composition (as well as, if possible , in French, German and English).

The length of an article is at least 12 RHE pages (25.000 characters) and should not exceed 25 pages of the RHE, or 50,000 to 60,000 characters, depending on the volume of footnotes. The guidelines to be respected for the bibliographical references and for writing can be found in the PDF document below.

An article proposed to the RHE will be submitted by the editorial secretary to at least two readers chosen among the international RHE collaborators. The article's author will receive the editor's opinion within six months. If the article is accepted corrections may be requested, addressed by the editors to the author. When the corrected version arrives at the RHE, the article is programmed for an upcoming issue of the review. The printer's proofs are sent to the author by post or e-mail; he is invited to correct them within 15 days, without introducing substantial changes, and in preference using the proofreaders' marks indicated in the document enclosed entitled proofreaders' marks and then send the proofs to the RHE, by post or e-mail.

The copyright of articles is the property of the RHE, to which the authors yield the right to reproduce their texts on other supports, particularly electronic. Each author will receive free, at his/her choosing, a PDF or 25 offprints of his/her text, sent to his/her postal address. Additional copies can be requested, upon payment. The pdf can in no case be deposited on a server with Open Access.
